I love Sundays. It's really the only day of the week that I stop whatever and just sit, ponder and enjoy doing nothing special. No soap wrapping, not ta. I have been known to toss in a load or two of laundry into the washing machine on Sunday, but usually the day is spent letting my mind and body rest.
Now that Abbey previews on Sunday nights the do nothing day continues through the evening and I love that too! I don't watch a lot of television.. It's not that I don't like it or anything, I do. It's that I'm usually busy with other things. Funny, we have a small television in our kitchen. If it's on, I usually turn it off. It bugs me to have it on. Isn't that silly? The sound distracts me as I work. I think it means I'm getting old to have those feelings.
I'm really getting spring fever! The seed catalogs have been arriving in the mail and I've been marking the books and pondering which ones to plant when spring arrives. I usually don't plant until Mother's Day. A little planting secret my mom taught me. The midwest can usher in a frost or two up until that day. I've planted early before and failed to heed my mothers' warnings only to regret it as the tender young seedlings couldn't withstand the cold.
Every spring I plant my favorite seedlings, nasturtium, allys um, sweet pea, cockscomb, zinnias and bachelor buttons, forget me nots. All planted by seed.
This spring, Mother's day I'm adding more herbs to my garden and several everlasting flowers like the straw-flower. The old fashioned blooms of stock and foxglove to accompany the peonies and hydrangeas already established.
I've mentioned before how if I had not chosen to be a soap maker I would have easily chosen to have a flower shop. Then comes bakery.
Speaking of baking. I made cream puffs the other night using this recipe. I've made cream puffs many times before but this is by far the best recipe I've ever used. They came out perfect.
Enjoy a caring and sharing one.
Warmly,
Jill 00 (two hugs are better than one)
