It's hard to believe Christmas is only eleven short days away. The presents are wrapped and the stockings are hung by the chimney with care. Fresh batches of Frosty Forest Potpourri fill the apothecary shop. Remnants of wrappings for Lemon Lavender Savon sprinkle the work counter. The house smells of lavender after I mixed fresh bottles of Linen Spray.
I'm beginning to ponder after Christmas thoughts. Only because I know things will slow down. I yearn for the laid back feeling that associates with the after Christmas schedule. I enjoy that time almost as much as Christmas. Especially excited for January 6 to arrive. Downton Abbey resumes. I asked Santa for some new flannel pajamas in preparation for the relaxing kick-back January nights. I will he happily glued to the couch!
I dream of a toasty fire in the fireplace and the aroma of crusty homemade bread baking in the oven. Chowders and soups top the menu. Bees wax candles aglow that cast a warm winter shadow on the walls as you walk by. Stashes of magazines and books help to create a cozy winter nook next to the bed.
Pondering thoughts of new Spring Bittersweets take flight. Soap flavors, colors and fabric swatches begin to appear. The fresh line always arrives around the same time the jonquils bloom.
Winter is a soulful and sweet season.
Bittersweet closes the shop during the month of January. Although considered a down time at the shop, behind the scenes I'm moving full speed ahead with new ideas and thoughts, plans. I'm already finding myself thinking about it.
For now though, it's best to stop, slow down and enjoy the Christmas season. The anticipation of family and friends uniting and thinking positive thoughts about the year to come is sure to put a smile on my face.
I have a favorite phrase this time of year. "It only takes one ounce of good cheer to fill someones heart with love."
Enjoy caring and sharing holidays.
Warmly,
