It's unbelievably warm today. I believe the weather people said it would reach eighty! Tomorrow, thirty-four degrees!! That deserves two explanation points, I believe. I took the weekend off . The shop was slow last week. Slow week at shop, fast week at home. That's the way it works, always. So slow days are usually welcome every now and then. Wouldn't like to have them often, but every now and then.
We picked out a large mirror to hang above the fireplace. Lennis building a new mail box stand. He's designing it to have hanging house numbers. I picked out the numbers at the hardware store. We have some major fix up projects planned for the exterior of our home. We have a small dormer above our bedroom window that needs to be completely rebuilt. Major work for a novice, but fortunately for my carpenter husband not that big of a thing. Lucky aren't I?
We lost our pussy willow tree a few years ago during a drought. I really miss being able to cut the branches for bouquets. They bloom early spring almost the same time as the daffodils bloom. Lennis would get his tall ladder and cut long branches for me. I think I'll add pussy willow to my plant list this season. Maybe a shorter variety this time. My mom used to grow pussy willow but they were large bushes. I wonder what species they were? I miss being able to pick up the phone and call and ask, always. Cherish your loved ones for they're sometimes here for a short time.
I ended up purchasing a small pussy willow wreath from one of my suppliers. If I had my own, I'd make the wreaths. Super easy to construct. So it appears by looking at this one.
Really wanting to make Ina's chocolate cake. It's my go-to cake. I'm waiting on dutch cocoa to arrive by parcel. It's the trick to making a deep dark rich chocolate cake. I order it here. Also use their baking powder. Love that too!
Julie brought in something the other day that she purchased at the craft store. I thought it might be fun to make. So I made a few. I'm not sharing though until I take them to the shop. They're pretty easy to make and quick. I will share because I think you would really enjoy making them. I used what I had on hand. Even tastier.
The windows are open and the home is taking on the fresh outdoor air. I can't wait to be able to go outside and pick bouquets of wood violets, spirea and mock orange to bring indoors. A home is always more a home with fresh flowers.
Elle is outside laying on the porch napping. She loves this kind of weather too.
Plans to attend a favorite antique show this weekend. I'll share that also.
Enjoy caring and sharing days.
