It makes an alchemist feel really good when folks drop by your apothecary shop and make amazing comments like, "Now I don't have to travel to Europe to create a custom perfume." Love those kind of comments. Thanks Lexi!
Sometimes, and not in an arrogant way, but simply a matter of fact kind of way, I freak out when pondering the thought of how many things I make and sell at the shop. Years ago, I decided to count. I stopped counting at one-hundred! When the things you make are attractive to other's, not only does it make you feel really good, it also keeps you busy. I've hired Rachel to work on Wednesdays. Since my business is growing, It is necessary to have help at the shop. Otherwise, my shop shelves would be lacking in Bittersweet product and merchandise. In fact, I'm already noticing that no matter how hard and fast I work to keep up. A great problem to have! There comes a time, hopefully in your business, you must make these changes to grow. If you want to grow. I do!
So you're faced with two choices, you stay the same, or you grow. Growing before you stay, can end up costing you more than money. I guess that I can say this since I've been in business for nineteen years with out any outside help. Well, I've hired extra help during events, what not, but for the most part it's just been me.
I'm so happy Bittersweet is growing. The growth has allowed me to bring in clothing and other unique items.
I've kind of have a style thing going on. Prairie Bohemian Girl would probably best describe the look I'm wanting to convey at the shop. Free flowing linen and cotton garments, easy breezy, comfy, and cool.
I've increased production on just about everything. All one-hundred things, and soap, yes soap, production has increased too. I make it, and it's gone.
This week is flying!
In between the busy Bittersweet, the home sweet home upgrades continue. I broke away from lip balm assembly line today and drove to the fabric store to pick out fabric for our dining room chairs. I'm really into the neutral straw color. Maybe it's called straw, I don't know. I'll share some chair straw colored seats later.
More to chat about, the building that was getting renovated on the square suddenly fell in and is being demolished completely. All week the square was filled with inspectors, lawyers, and curious bystanders. The nightly news flew over and over the building. They kept postponing the excavation. Town squares like Liberty and the walls they share are fragile after such a tragic accident.
When you watch the video you tend to realize the blessing that nobody was injured.
Lots to come... I'm tired.
Enjoy caring and sharing days.
