I'd like to start this post with a thank you to everyone that emailed me or left messages on Bittersweets Face book page regarding my last story. Your comments brought tears to my eyes and touched my heart. Thank you.
It was a beautiful Easter! I don't recall it ever being this spring pretty. Everything is blooming early this year. I think I'll get a jump on planting this season. That means more time to enjoy the garden bounties and blooms! I love that!
Taking a break from home improvements to prepare for the upcoming May Day open house. Considerable amount of prep work goes into this event. First I must have an ample numbers of fresh products, wrapping oodles of soap bars, new items, all for the special event. Then the addressing and mailing of the invitations. Tidying up, planning the dessert menu and sprucing up outdoors all a part of the check off list of things to do. Preparing May Day hostess gifts. Making sure I have someone to work the cash register that day, sometimes I've worked it! In between, filling orders and regular house and home, garden and life...
All this gives me insight on how much work goes into others events when I attend them. I don't just see the final set-up I too can invision the prep work involved to pull it off. Kind of a behind the scenes preview.
Since I enjoy all this so much it's a joy to prepare and get ready for the big day!
After the open house it will be time to create new Summer soaps. Always a fun exploration time at Bittersweet Soap.
Oh in case you didn't see on our Face-book page. We're out of patchouli soap! Several weeks ago we posted that we were running low and would soon be OUT! We also explained how it will be awhile before we have it available again. We're predicting early summer. The essential oil has went up too! That means a price increase in the bars. The cost of a bar of patchouli soap will go up fifty cents. It's five dollars a bar now, so when it comes back it will be $5. 50. I hate to do that, but am forced to with the high cost of oils. On that subject too, everything is going up!
I was noticing grocery store items have went up substantially. Not to mention the packages are smaller. Have you noticed that? I've heard the cost of goods is more on my side of the pond then anywhere else in the US. What the heck! Not sure I understand why groceries cost more here. Something to do with the cost of gas, I'm sure of it. That trickle down effect too. I understand first hand how that works.
Mailing the invites today and taking care of a few loose ends. I never plan to much for Monday. It seems if I do, my wheels are spinning. Not sure how that works either, but it does.
Enjoy a spring filled Monday.
Warmly,
Jill 00
