Thank you for the birthday blessings and well wishes. My birthday was made even more special by your kind and thoughtful sentiments.
We had a winter storm pass through on the first day of winter so we lay-ed low drank hot cocoa and watched Hallmark movies.
The past day has been relaxed and slow and opposite of the days before. Not sure if I can wrap myself around the slowness quite yet, but I will soon get the hang of it. It always takes awhile to get accustomed to the big change.
We always host Christmas Eve with my family. I'm making this cake and serving this yummy after dinner hot toddy. I have a bottle of champagne to serve also so that we can toast our blessings.
I have presents to wrap and gifts to deliver. Cutting some fresh pine to make an arrangement for the dining room table. It's brutally cold outside. A North Pole wave of frigid air has arrived! Now I know why Santa wears layers and has that long beard and boots! I bet he wears Smart Wool Socks too!
It feels good to slow down and take in a long winter break. Some plans of a mini kitchen makeover after Christmas and we're getting a new dishwasher. I'm doing white appliances. Always have liked white appliances for some reason. Looking at these curtains and wanting to switch cabinet hardware to these. I have some new shelving and some kitchen ideas floating. White walls in my favorite shade. Appears white when on the wall. Just a hint of gray, love the color!
Little Elle bundled up in a warm blanket. Cairns are a funny little breed. They were designed to capture burrowed animals. Badgers to be exact. Hard to imagine this small little terrier going after a fierce long clawed badger. Elle loves to tug and pull until she gets bundled under the blankets. When I have a pile of quilts on the bed I'm often concerned she will suffocate under all those blankets! She's a great little friend to have around the house. She is definetely one of us.
I'm hoping and wishing your Christmas is filled with all things good. Don't sweat the small stuff and always remember how fast it all goes. Stop and take in the many splendors of the season.
Love,
Jill 00 (Two heart to heart hugs are better than one)
