Before the two day May day celebration there's the over the hills and through the Missouri woods antique show. That's a picture from last years show. We don't participate, but rather shop. Notice the white fog surrounding my image in the picture. A mystery, and appeared twice as I took two pictures. I told Jules we need to take another pic same time of day, (it was about 2:30 in the afternoon), and see if the strange fog shows up again. I'm guessing, it probably won't. I do believe in a spirit world, but I don't mess with it. It can get messy! I can tell you this from my strange once upon a life spirit experiences. My perspective has since changed and I don't dabble in unknown spirit territory. Long story. Ha! Jill the soap maker, aka ghost hunter, clairvoyant. Not any more folks.
Back to the topic of twice a year antique show. The past several years Jules and I have arrived late because the event takes place the same time as our May day celebration. It seemed we had third pick of the items offered and we wish to have first pick! This year I suggested we go early even though it's my baking day for the event. Yes, I bake for three days for our May day celebration. It is a celebration you know! Please don't gather those pagan thoughts. For me, May day evokes happy memories of my mom making May day baskets from construction paper and pipe cleaners then she'd gather bouquets of lilac, spirea, wild wood violets, tulips and place the blooms inside the hand made cones. We would then hang the flowery baskets on friends doors.
I received this May day basket last year. I was thrilled to have received a May day basket. The person whom left the basket remains anonymous. If the anonymous person is reading this, thank you! You brightened my day in ways you may never know.
This season the lilacs are already blooming! We're experiencing an early spring. By the time May day arrives we'll be picking roses and bachelor buttons!
I have a funny May day story from several years ago to share. You can read it here. One that will go down in May day history!
Enjoy caring and sharing days.
With all good wishes,
