Rather than touch on Bittersweet artisan essentials I thought it would be a nice change of pace to point out a few other artists that have captured my attention. I am in bracelet love with these.
Second to hold my interest, this handy but attractive jewelry organizer. I love the little attached shelf. I've been wishing for a jewelry organizer that allows me to see everything at once time.
Planning on a low key week at the apothecary shoppe. Typically, Memorial weekend is slow. Today marked the last day of school and the extra long weekend is officially a few days away.
We've decided to close our shops on Saturday. The down time is appreciated and allows me to catch up on some home sweet home chores.
I'm making an old fashioned Fried Chicken meal on Sunday and inviting friends over to picnic with us. The weather forecast predicts rain, but we're not going to let that put a damper on our Memorial weekend fun.
My grandmother Lola used to make the best fried chicken! She offered the comfort food at her cafe, Lola's Cafe. I'm blessed to have pictures of her and my grandfather in their cafe. I have my Uncle Richard to thank for that. He took numerous photo's of his mom and dad, my grandmother, grandfather.
It feels particularly appropriate to share these vintage pictures with you, this Memorial week.
If you've frequented my blog, chances are these pictures are familiar as I've shared them before. This picture is one of my favorites. My dad sitting on the stool and his faithful companion hinting for a restaurant treat. My grandma Lola behind the counter and my Grandpa Homer taking a break. Notice their little bow ties. Something they probably took for granted, the bow ties, but much admired by their granddaughter.
These were challenging times for most. Notice the picture Harry S. Truman, president at the time. A Missouri boy that all Missourians admired and loved. A tell it like it is President. How could you not like that?
This is another favorite picture. My dad wearing tattered old jeans and the sign hanging proudly in the backdrop.
I'm feeling blessed and thankful, grateful too.
Have a safe and memorable Memorial day.
Enjoy caring and sharing days.
With all good wishes,
