If I were stranded on an island and could only choose one bird call it would be the calming cue of a mourning dove. The bird is a pretty amazing species too.
I planted the last of the sweet grass, sage, and feverfew yesterday. It's a bit late for planting but better late than never, I say.
It's almost time for outdoor dinner settings. This little porch sits right off our kitchen and a wonderful spot for summer dining. I remember when this picture was taken a couple of years ago. The main course was fried chicken! A once a year splurge.
The dresser that sits in our bathroom. I'm stripping it to the original wood. I've got the top almost finished, but need to get a new sander because my old one broke. That's the one I'm going to get.
I kind of like refinishing furniture. There's a rewarding feeling after you strip and sand and varnish a piece to glory. I will confess, I'm a messy refinisher. Lennis always makes sure a tarp is down before I start such projects because he knows I'll make a huge mess. Summer projects.
Our downtown farmers market is such a summer joy. Every Saturday I arrive early to the shop and then head down the street to check out all the fresh produce.
Keep the faith.
