It has finally slowed down, and here I am amidst new products, favorite finds, and the unexpected challenge of frozen pipes! The tune of "Achy Breaky Heart" seems oddly fitting. Our winter has been exceptionally harsh, and finding joy amid it all proves to be quite a challenge. Grateful for a bit of respite during this winter break, even if it involves juggling space heaters, torches, and ice melt. This particular aspect of winter is not my favorite—can you relate? With much of the country grappling with extreme winter weather, I don't feel isolated in these sentiments.
Years ago, when Bittersweet decided to take a winter break, I wasn't sure what to expect. Closing my store for a month seemed like a daring move, considering the ongoing demand. However, after the first year of implementing the winter break, it turned out to be one of the wisest business decisions I've ever made. I've never regretted it.
Post-holidays, our shop feels like a fresh start as we typically sell out of all our soaps and skincare essentials. During this supposed "break," I'm in the process of re-making the items that flew off the shelves. It's a routine I've followed for twenty-six years, and it's become a crucial part of our winter hiatus.
I'm gradually getting ready to return to the shop, and there's a particular thrill about the new products I've diligently prepared for our grand re-opening. You're going to love them! I enjoyed sampling them during my break. I became addicted to the salt blocks. My bathroom smelled like eucalyptus and the magnesium that I put in the formula was soothing on a cold winter's night.
One of the changes at our shop is an expansion of our Scent Bar. I'm happy to introduce another great selection of fragrances that can easily be added to our pre-mixed body essentials. I've upgraded our bath salt blend and it's ready for you to add scent, and possibly you prefer it unscented. Either way, you are in for a pampering bathing beauty treat!
The wool vest and slippers called out to me so I ordered them for our shop. They come from Norway. They're well made, warm, and unique which are three requirements when we order out sourcing items.
I've restocked my Amazon store with some of my favorite new finds.
I made chocolate chip cookies with my sourdough discard. I always feel like I'm wasting my sourdough if I just throw it out before a feed. If you're unfamiliar with this topic I shared the process and recipe a few posts ago.
Keep the faith.
