A fresh year dawns, bringing with it the gleam of brand-new Bittersweets! While crafting skincare isn't new to us, there's a sense of innovation when you stumble upon an incredible ingredient that revolutionizes your formulations. Enter magnesium. As I delved into researching this mineral, its potency became evident, prompting me to exclaim, "Where have you been all my life?" While we've incorporated magnesium from Dead Sea and Epsom salts into our products before, my exploration has propelled us to redefine healing and wellness, crafting products that genuinely foster restoration and well-being.
Being deeply entrenched in the world of natural skincare ingredients, creating new products is always a thrill! Yet, while exploring body scrub recipes, I stumbled upon a concerning trend: most commercially available ones contain propylene glycol. For those unaware, this chemical shares components with jet fuel – a shocking revelation!
I refuse to subject my skin to such substances, let alone create skincare products for public use with these ingredients. Even though the traditional method of making soap is time-consuming and crafting certain skincare items like sugar scrubs demands equal effort, I'll never compromise time for harmful elements. It's a lifestyle choice that, without hesitation, aligns perfectly with my values!
After dedicating an entire day to the meticulous process of creating sugar scrub, enduring the extended periods of heating and cooling, I've reached a firm conclusion: it's absolutely worth it!
In a nutshell, we're stepping up our game at Bittersweet. In a world where speed often wins, embracing the slower pace brings a sense of fulfillment and true satisfaction. This fresh new year holds a trove of thrilling new offerings at our shop, and I'm bursting with excitement to unveil them all!
As our annual soap sale draws near, the behind-the-scenes hustle intensifies! I'll be physically gearing up for this once-a-year event by wrangling in approximately three hundred pounds of soap. The anticipation is building! I am woman hear me roar! Do you remember that song? I've always loved that song! Listen to it.
Snow is coming! Elle is sporting her flannel plaids. We made hot cocoa the other night. Here's the recipe that we use out of my cookbook.
Guess what's resting in the oven? You guessed it, sourdough bread! My neighbor doesn't know it, but I'm going to share a loaf with her when it's hot out of the oven. Nothing better!
A few months ago I organized my spice cabinet and transferred each herb and spice into little glass jars with labels. It was a time-consuming task, but I'm so happy that I did it! The rewards of having herbs and spices easy to find and grab are priceless. It took me a couple of days as I use a lot of both in cooking, but like I said, worth it. Now when I open my kitchen cabinet drawers it's a beautiful site!
If you've never attended the soap sale here's the low down.
Happy New Year!
