We're smack dab in the middle of summer and things are happening behind the scenes that reflect all things autumn. Our shop is sprinkled with tiny pieces of fall as we approach the glorious season we can't help but get excited.
Some of you may not know, but I had a radio show a few years back. The show was used to promote local downtown shops and businesses in my community. After a three-year run, I retired from the show, but I still really miss it! The owner of the station, husband and wife were the dearest of humans and I'll never forget how they allowed me to run free and taught me their engineering knowledge so that we could be a one-woman show! I loved all aspects of live radio, from the line-up of guests to the behind-the-scenes gizmos, mics, and recording gadgets. It's not often that one is allowed to have a radio show and be taught the tools that operate it. The blessings that this opportunity brought to my life far exceed the work involved in hosting it. Especially now that I've been away for a while. Things in life that start as little turn into the big moments.
Our outsourcing for the shop is complete and we are in love with those scarfs. First touch and you'll notice their softness and lightweight goodness. If you're wanting to update your style while staying on a budget, a new scarf fits the bill. No pun intended.
I picked up a couple of zucchini at our downtown farmers market on Saturday before opening the shop and made zucchini bread with my discarded sourdough starter. I always feel bad wasting the starter before a feed. There are tons of recipes that include sourdough discard nowadays. I used that one because I had all of the ingredients to make it.
I also picked fresh tomato and cucumber from my garden and made that old-fashioned salad. Sometimes the old-time recipes are the best. This one is a perfect example of that thought.
Can you believe that our holiday packaging is in-house? I'm changing things this year compared to past years, but the change is great! I'll share as we get closer to the fall. You're going to love the look! The new wrappings surpass our expectations. That's all I'm going to say for now.
Our grass-fed and finished tallow soap also surpasses our expectations when it comes to lather and moisture. As a fourth-generation soap maker, I'm not easily convinced that new soap recipes are better than original ones. However, the recipe that we've developed for the tallow far exceeds any doubt and convinces me to always be eager to try new ideas and concepts. Never say never.
You're sending me emails and posts about how you ordered my new book. I'm thankful for your support and after you read it through please don't forget to drop a review on Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Thank you.
