Bittersweet is welcoming a shiny new line that was inspired by the number zero. We're working, Jill is working on prototypes for several new home keeping essentials along with a few body care products. All with the thought in mind that less waste has to be a good thing!
Years ago, probably fifteen or so, I made shampoo bars and sold them at my shop. They were somewhat popular, but not flying out the door popular. I'm always amazed how timing plays into the popularity of a product. Of course, trends line the path to their popularity, but too, so does a need for change. Lessening the amount of waste in your household can start with shampoo. Why not?
Just think of how many shampoo bottles your family goes through in a year!
I have wonderful handwritten notes from my aunt Vivian describing how my Great Grandmother Lucy made soap and used it on everything. Not only did she use the hand made soap on her body, but she also used it to wash her clothes and home. Now that's what I call Zero waste! I was not only inspired by these letters to recreate something similar but also a cozy warm feeling came over me. I have those feelings often when inspiration is guided by my family. It just feels so good.
I wanted the label to be old fashioned looking. This is a prototype of the label. The soap is curing and it was interesting how the scent just rolled along nicely without much contemplation. Always good!
I've also made a Dishwashing Soap named you guessed it, Grandma Lucy! This soap will most certainly be much milder than my Great Grandmother's, but it will be accompanied by a little wood brush. Simply rub the brush over Grandma Lucy Soap and get to washing those dishes. Clean your home with this chemical free, yummy smelling soap. It's a big chunky bar, almost twelve ounces!
Now you've not only eliminated shampoo bottles but you've also ditched the dish soap! Way to go!
The line is going to be called, Back To Basics. Sometimes you name new lines from what they do. This is the case. It's funny I had a line called this around fifteen years ago. Sometimes they come back too. That timing thing is crucial to their success. This I've learned and continue to advance in that learning
It's always exciting to present Bittersweet lines.
Wait until you see the Bee's Wax Polish!
One, Two things at a time...
Keep the faith.
Jill
